Oceanna was the opening event for a permanent interactive immersive art gallery I had the pleasure of designing and engineering for Art Annex Du Nord in Duluth, Minnesota.
The main piece is a 12’x20’ mural, which is projection mapped and procedurally animated to respond in unique ways depending on the content. For the Oceanna exhibit, viewers could interact with a hidden Microsoft Kinect to cause an ocean ripple effect over the mural.
On the flanking wall of the gallery are three large windows which have each been projection mapped to display artists’ images in in a “ken burns” loop.
The third piece is a custom stage lighting system I designed, which consists of 28 RGB lightbulbs. They are controlled remotely to and animate in various colors based the the content in the projection, and in patterns based on audio played from the stage.
